Refilling and maintaining my roughly 200-220kg automatic feeder…

To refill and maintain my roughly 200-220kg automatic feeder, check the spreader heads, set the timers, . . . it would be useful to lower the tank and then lift it back up to the 5m height.
Some kind of winch solution is the most practical way to raise and lower the load.
The inconvenience of using the earlier, simple hand winch turned into such a degree of suffering that I would have thrown the thing far, far away by now — if my helper here didn’t want to keep it.
Without some kind of bracket, it could only be fixed to a small-diameter trunk so the crank arm would have clearance, and the steel cable also went every which way, but mostly ended up pressed right up against the direction-change latch, making it impossible to use.
So, the whole thing was a real ordeal. Into the bin with it!

Today I tried something else.
The small Eder Powerwinch 500 winch could be used for the purpose in two different ways.
Away from the load — which is mostly useful for e.g. approaching a downed large-bodied animal — or, when lifting the load, mounted vertically on the trunk of the supporting tree.
For the current purpose, this latter is probably the better solution if one is handling things alone, without having to keep running back and forth to check the tank’s proper height.
Using the device takes a bit of practice, but nothing too bad.
You quickly get a feel for how it works most efficiently.
