Two locations, two occupations.
In the upper photo, ( an old bowhunter’s feeder ) the pig found the corn hidden in a bucket-sized buried pit.
That can keep it busy for hours.
In the other photo, the soaked, clayey forest soil on the creek bank makes for a perfect wallow, drawing in the pig population.
In a hidden little grove in the forest, we’re witnessing a long-abandoned feeder coming back to life. Although the automatic feeder has already been dispensing roughly a kilo and a half of kernel corn twice a day for a week now, the real breakthrough came from the tried-and-true fermented corn.
