It is a truly joyful moment when the deployed cameras once again capture game appearing at the feeders.
As is well known, the animals vanish completely from these spots for weeks or months when the wild fruits ripen and sweeten, and from the time any agricultural crop (corn, sunflower, sugar beet . . .) shoots up until it ripens — and even for several weeks after the harvest they keep scratching, rooting and picking over the stubble for the fallen, leftover grain.
Then autumn arrives, and at that time the old oaks drop their acorns in abundance, which are far tastier and more nutritious for the game than plain, dry shelled corn.
So the stand-hunter’s task is not an easy one, because on this hunting ground stalking with a bow is all but impossible.
