The outer pipe is a 400 mm diameter KG pipe, while the inner one is a 160 mm diameter pipe.
The larger tank holds 4 bags (33 kg/bag) of corn, while the inner one holds about 25 kg of special treats.
What exactly goes into this smaller gourmet tank remains to be tested.
I don’t yet know what will work well in practice.
Currently I have 3×20 kg bags of 3 kinds of natural, organic pellets (sugar beet, meadow hay, alfalfa).
But in time I’d also like to try out how well the following professional game attractants live up to expectations.
– Wildlutscher Magic Boilies game attractant, Jerusalem artichoke and rowan
– Wildlutscher Turbo Mais Boilies game attractant
Whatever concerns I had about dispensing pellets have all evaporated.
Because the current EuroHunt Evolution feeder mechanism dispenses pellet-sized feed, 2x or 3x longer than corn, perfectly well too.
For example, it dispenses 65 grams of meadow hay pellets in 1 second.
This feed has a bulk density of 605 kg/cubic meter, from which it follows that roughly 15 kg will fit into the 1200 mm long, 160 mm diameter inner cylinder.
Carrying the calculation further, the result is that I’ll need to run the dispenser for about 7 seconds each day, with a single dispensing per day, for a fully filled tank to empty completely over 31 days.
The Moultrie Feed Hub tank technology arrives early next month.
(A quantity sensor, as well as a timing unit for both tanks)
Through the phone app it’ll become possible to check the amount left in the tank, the battery charge level, and to very precisely set the timing and duration of dispensing, as well as the motor speed.
On top of that, I’ll even be able to start an on-demand dispensing at any time, on either tank.
If I do it right and the system works, I’ll be able to continuously regulate the amount dispensed so that, by the time the next long hunting weekend of the following month comes around, both tanks – the corn and the gourmet feed alike – run out right on cue.
