Arriving late at night, at 23:12, and picking at the corn until 1 a.m., getting startled again and again, this little boar kept coming back to the new feeder I set up / revived 2 weeks ago, used exclusively by me.
Interestingly, it was the fermented corn that drew it here ( I’ve been seeing it lurking around the feeder since the very day I put it out . . .) and yet it’s the kernels dispensed by the feeder automat that it ends up eating.
If things go according to plan, salt will go into the holder ( Imima KräuterBlock ), a salt lick ( Wildlutscher dark salt-corn lick ) onto the holder’s post, and in the right spots, I’ll also offer some "pit corn" for the wild boar.
Experience shows that corn / acorns / walnuts in the shell -whatever’s on hand- scattered into a 20-30cm deep pit and covered over, provides great entertainment for the pigs and keeps their attention tied to one spot for a long time.
Even the more cautious boars get completely absorbed in digging out such treats
